I've gone to the web-site and have seen the dead lines, just asking what is generally the time to sign up, how far out?

This will be my first triathlon, less than one year after two heart surgeries and 40 lbs lighter. Hopefully can lose about 10 to 15 more before the event.

For those who have done this before....I suppose it is NOT wetsuit legal?  I know the PBR last year was 2 weeks later and it was just barely legal, so I assume Nathan's would not be.

They allowed wetsuits last year but the water really was not "wetsuit legal." I didn't race but some of my friends said they wished they hadn't worn them because it was too hot.

Tends to be on the edge.

Even if it isn't I don't think they worry too much about the wetsuit DQ.

Same at Tempe Intl. "No wetsuit", but there were a few that swam in them and I don't think they got DQ'd.

Found it.

You can wear a wetsuit up to and including 78 degrees. 78+ to 83 degrees, you can wear a wetsuit but will not be eligible for GC or AG awards. Above 83 degrees, no wetsuits period.

I doubt I'm in contention for any AG awards or anything (my first oly).  I've got a sleeveless that I guess I'll take and decide when I get there.

How long do you plan on being in the water? Are you wearing it to stay warmer or for more bouyancy?

In the pool I can do 800 in just over 15 min.  OW I did Dueces in 18:35....so I suspect a bit over 30 mins for Nathans (I've been shaving time off nicely as the summer goes on) .  It would probably be a buoyancy thing more than warmth given the time of year.
