Subject: New To TriHello all. I am a 47 year old guy who recently had a complete rupture of my patella tendon--playing rugby. Needless, I have been encouraged by all (particularly my wife, who views the rugby injury as "self-inflicted" ) to seek a new sport. My doctor encouraged me to try Triathlon training as I have to swim and bike for rehab anyway (no running allowed yet ). Anyway, I think he is crazy, but I thought I would give it a try. I am 6'1" and weigh about 251, sort of a fat/muscular guy. Not exactly ideal for triathlons. But hopefully, I can lose some weight before I am cleared to run. I have trained hard in the recent past for rugby (more anaerobic in nature, sprint intervals, jump rope, closed chain Olympic lifting ), so I am not afraid of hard work, but would love any tips for beginners who are old and umm...well, fat. Sort of. |
