Anyone doing one of these races?

 

I'm doing the sprint as a warm up to the Half in June.  Looks like the lake is gonna be c-c-c-cold.

I am registered for the sprint race which will be my first open water swim and second sprint triathlon. I am hoping the water isn't too cold. Also planning on swimming in the lake on the Friday to get a feel for it.

Peby said the lake temp is only 15C right now.   (!!!!!!)   Yes I am a cold water wuss. Looks like like the weather might warm up to low 20's mid week but that won't be enough to make a huge difference in the lake temp.

Praying for a miracle...

Signed up for the Olympic as a warm up for the half!  Went for a dry run today and the lake was freeeezing in the morning so we waited until later and it wasn't to bad.  Felt like the same temp as last year at the this time...hopefully the warm weather this week will make a difference!

Oh that is good news - I'm coming down next Saturday and will go for a test swim then.  It was 19C for the sprint/oly last year.

It was perfect water and weather (okay maybe a little windy but it is the Okanagan :p) conditions last year...I will probably see you there on Saturday!! :D

Well the weather forecast is looking optimistic now!  25C most of the week - hopefully the lake will warm up a LOT!  Maybe Peby will chime in with a temp update later this week

That would mean I'd have to go to the lake and get wet.

I'd love to have someone to swim with.  I'll try to be there at that time.  I'm leaving Kelowna around 10am so should be in town by noon.

I ended up swimming alone around 1:30-2:00.  Water was cold but not unbearable. How did you do in your race?

Haha, I came in first my AG as well!  How old are you (if you don't mind me asking)?  Oh I wanted the Oakleys but I woulda like a wetsuit better.  Congrats!

 

Paul - most of the women in my age group were firs timers.  But hey, I cut 5 minutes off my run time from last minute and that made a huge difference...
