I need to get in a 2 hour bike ride on the evening of Thursday, July 16th.   Anybody else have a similar ride on their plan?

I'd join you but I have an appointment with an oral surgeon on Thursday and probably won't feel up to it.

I can give you a solid maybe on that one.  I'm going to London with my mom for the day - so that will be the only hitch - if I don't feel like driving again...

I'm riding the decaf ride tomorrow though in Tecumseh...

Dave! Thanks for the invite.  Probably not tomorrow.   I'm going to Bikesport in the morning - I'll be back probably early afternoon and I'm already reconsidering my choice to go to the Decaf ride tomorrow - I'm probably not going to want to be in the car for that long again ...  Later in the week maybe?  Let me know what's up!

They just announced a 2nd decaf ride this week for Thursday at 6:00. They will also have the regular high speed ride on Thursday. They will separate and set out in two groups.

I think I might join them.  Matt, did you want to come too?  They meet at the Tecumseh Bike Shop (corner of Manning and Tecumseh).

Let me check about the speed and time.

I remember reading that the decaf is about 30-35km/hr and the expresso is about 45km/hr (keep in mind that they will do alot of drafting and they may not let you use your tri-bars).

Correct.  No aerobars unless you are pulling.  The rest of the time you're riding on hoods/bars.  Most of the time it's a double-paceline and there are some great people out!!  Lots of fun!  Good to know they're doing another decaf ride tomorrow!  Thanks!

Sorry, Alex did not get back to me yet on the distance.  I am going to go and if its not long enough, I will do more to ensure I get the 2 hours in.

I hope to see some of you there!

It will be between 50-70k.  Most of the ones I've been on have been in that range.

I hope everyone had fun last night.  I missed the ride because I had a 3:50 eye apt which lasted until 5pm.  Nothing has gone as planned this week.  I will be working out like CRAZY this weekend to get caught up!

better late than never?

Matt, here is the info I wanted to post for you.  This is from the East side riders facebook page.
Regular rides from the Bicycle Shop ( Manning Rd.):

Tuesday 6 pm Espresso Ride
Wednesday 6pm Decaf Ride
Thursday 6 pm Espresso Ride
Saturday 9 am Coffee + Espresso Ride
Sunday 9 am Coffee + Espresso Ride
Come one come all, have fun!

The Espresso ride is for riders who can hold 30+ km/h easily for long distances and have several years of experience group riding. These evening rides usually involve several sprints at speeds of 40+km/h.

The Coffee ride is for riders who have some experience group riding but not able to hold 30+km/h for long distances ...yet. With time Coffee riders will join the Espresso riders as speed and endurance improves.

The Decaf ride is for the rider who wants to become stronger and gain experience in group riding. You will be accompanied by at least 1 Espresso riders for guidance. Speeds are generally slower <30 km/h and no man gets left behind.

KEEP CHECKING OUT THE HOME PAGE, RIDES MAY POP UP. IF YOU ARE HAVING A RIDE AND ARE LOOKING FOR POTENTIAL RIDERS TO JOIN YOU. POST A COMMENT, YOU NEVER KNOW IF SOMEONE MIGHT SHOW UP AND JOIN YOU.

THE MORE THE MERRIER !!!
