Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: HELP, HELP, HELP OK, now that I got your attention I have a problem. I am doing the Redman Iron Distance in OKC on September 22 and have been anticipating this for almost a year now. This is my first year of tris and so far well ok. Have my second Half Iron this Saturday and then my next race will be showtime!! So my ordeal. I need accountability partners or just some good in your face holding me to my weight loss plan and eating right. I have joined and failed every weight loss thread around here since November and always have an excuse or say next time. My workouts have been great at times and then I slack and go into these binges and blame it on work or whatever but am quickly running out of time before the big day. I remember seeing the clock saying 300 days til the race and always thinking "ok now I will start doing better about my eating and nutrition" and then blowing it again. I am in no way out of shape but not nearly maximizing my potential. I should be 175 on race day but am still hovering mid to high 190's. I got down to mid 180's right before Memorial Weekend but have had one bbq, potluck, holiday, you name it after another and kept eating crap and way to much of it. So if anyone is willing to hold me to eating right and not skipping workouts I will be greatly appreciative. August 1 is tomorrow, I have 7 and a half weeks, 52 days to get my sh** in order. P.M. me, inspire me, post on this thread, whatever you are willing to do and I will be greatful. I will post my weight, body fat %, and in the overall comments in my logs will keep a daily update on my day and if I am on track or not. Thanks in advance!!! And that will help me too as I have been off and on the weight wagon myself lately. I will check your log daily (prob at night) when I log my workouts. Are you keeping track of your intake? This site is good for it and so is Fitday. I thinks a few folks are also using Calorie King successfully. I think you are also on the Girl Team for the Swim/Run Challenge, aren't you?? Well best to ya and I'll be seeing you (your logs anyway )later. Chris |

I went to meet with my triathlon coach and dietician yesterday to start my IMLP 2008 nutrition plan... um BMI testing... 24%. Yikes. Told I should lose 12 pounds and 9% body fat and was given a big ole packet of nutrition materials and guidelines for my nutrition plan. I'm supposed to weigh myself every Monday and keep a spreadsheet of my daily food intake, so I would love to have someone (other than my coach) to check on me from time to time! You are gonna do great and I have faith in you! |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: HELP, HELP, HELP Hey..I'm working towards a healthy weight for IMLP...so we can all try to reach out goals. Seriously losing a few pounds will make the hills at Lake Placid or IMCDA so much easier to ride up...we are talking serious time. So glad your first day of clean eating is done...for me giving up those tasty things first few days is hardest not later. I eat by habit more than anything...get a in a good groove and all goes well but get in a bad groove it all falls apart. Now I'm in a good groove.....

This could be a very good thing. Get a few of us that are all doing IM's next summer and need to shed a few and motivate the crap out of each other. BRILLANT!! |

Come on back to the group! I really want to drop weight...do YOU? It is easy to say that you do, but your actions must back up your words...just a little tough love! Don't let plateaus fool you into thinking your not dropping any more weight, they can happen for long periods. I can't comment on your work situation, but if you are in a stressful environment eating healthy can only bolster your defense mechanism to it!! I don't see stress as an excuse...think hard before you satisfy the craving for junk food. You can choose not to put it in your mouth...more tough love! Train hard and make the right nutritional decisions! Edited by chudley 2007-08-14 8:54 PM |

Elite 2863 | Subject: RE: HELP, HELP, HELP Michael, FWIW. I did Redman 140.6 last year. This race needs to be taken seriously. 140.6 just isn't twice the distance of a HIM, which you mentioned you've done at least one. It's a whole new ball game. Your weight is a small factor in your ability to have a successful ironman distance race. You need to get a grip and fuel your body the proper way, with proper foods, that will prepare you for training, racing, recovery. You should be paying as much attention (if not more) to your diet than the other disciplines of training. And by "Diet" I don't mean "restricted calories", but more of WHAT you eat, not how much you eat. Stop eating things you know you shouldn't be eating and Start treating food as FUEL. If you're serious about becoming an Ironman, then take your health and the food you eat seriously. There. How's that for a good scolding? |
