Subject: RE: IM Wisconsin Training BeginsOne of Our Latest Innovations ... ISM Seats Blackwell research is very proud to bring you the ISM seat line. The "Ideal Saddle Modification" was developed by Steve Toll out of Tampa Fl. Steve was another longtime cyclist that had recurring seat "issues" and decided to give a shot at finding a better solution. Through much trial and error, Steve hit on a shape that delivered the comfort and support he was looking for. During a meeting with John Cobb at a triathlon, Steve decided he would bring his designs and prototypes to our labs for development help. With information gained from our TekScan systems and further research which included seat evaluations at the famous European seat lab of Dr. Frank Sommers of the University of Cologne, the first in a series of ISM seats was developed.
This first seat was designed for the Comfort bike market, with a Sport seat and racing/triathlon specific seat next in line. The Comfort seat is ideal for Hybrid bike riders, Mountain bikers and Industrial applications. Police bikes are an area of special concern; Steve Toll is a former police officer and is very aware of the special needs of these riders.
The Sport seat is a little Narrower and is ideal for Spin Bikes at the gym, Mountain bikes and road bikers with a more upright rider position. These seats offer instant relief from numbness and associated crotch pressures.
The new racing seat has been specifically designed to work with riders using aero bars and doing long distance races. With extensive input from John Cobb on the shape of the sides and the sit bone support areas, ISM developed a seat that will give you all day comfort. The racing seat has special Gel areas for spreading out load impact along with a very special designed base plate to help build the "cradling " needed to relieve neck and shoulder strain. All ISM seats come with complete instructions with proven techniques to help you get the initial setup done correctly. Sure, these seats look different; they have to, because to make an advance in cycling comfort you have to be willing to think outside the box.
