Extreme Veteran  392  |  Subject: Moving to Miami, KendallSo I'm finally moving back to Miami after being gone for 6 years. I got into triathlons about 2 years ago so I don't know what I'm getting into. Looking for some recommendations as far as bike routes in hte Kendall area, and maybe some local races I should look into. Feel weird cause I had it all down here in Cali but now that I'm moving. I don't know where to ride or swim. Any help would be great. |

For local races check www.MultiRace.com For bike rides in the Kendall area....I really don't know....but...I know thare are many Road/Tri Clubs....and...they usually do the long bike rides (Weekends) in my area...The Redlands.... Master 1573 Red Sox Nation | Subject: RE: Moving to Miami, Kendall Welcome back! MultiSport puts on a lot of races based out of Crandon Park on KB. The Huntington Tri goes out of there in August and that's a fun charity race. Huntington's is Sunday, and Saturday there will be a race in Key Largo. I forget who the RD is on that one. Publix Family Fitness has a Sprint race in Fort Lauderdale (new date 7/18 - from 7/25) and in Miami on 9/12. That's an ESM. ESM ususally has an Olympic in South Beach in August, but I haven't seen that announced yet. Athletes for a Cure will be at Disney 9/20. Escape to Miami is an awesome race in downtown (Sprint and Oly) on Sept 27. If you can, DO THE MIAMI NICE Tri on 10/18. This is a new triathlon this year, put on by the same group that produces The Miami Internation Tri, at the same venue (the pavillion on KB, just down from Victoria Key - I forget the name). Definitly hook up with Team Hammerhead, South Florida Triathletes. Awesome group of people - lot's of training partners and group SBR events. Happy move! |

Practice areas: - Key Biscayne - first stop after causway bridge, they call it "Triathlon Beach" if you can't find someone training there on sat or sun there is a race going on Triathlons: - Jun - Aug - Mack Cycle Trilogy - Aug - publix triathlon sprint SOBE - DEFINITELY hit this one up FANTASTIC venue beach is fun fun fun - Sep - escape to miami - never did this one but I hear its an excellent race |

Although the beach is supposedly a very nice venue too. Yes, SoBe race is in Miami, Ft DeSoto is a great event and the location is consistently in the top 5 beaches in the US, Sand Key (Sarasota) and Anna Maria (Bradenton are not too far and they usually fight for 1,2 or 3 every single year). Beautiful beaches on this side of the FL Peninsula. Come and visit us any day. Our next "big" event is the Morton Plant mease tri on July 12 on Clearwater Bch (Sand Key). I'm registered. |

I thought the bridge was pretty east coming from Southern California. Good ride though. We train in Key Biscayne every 2 weeks.... full brick work-outs (swim/bike/run)...Usually 1 mile swim / 29 to 30 miles bike / 3 miles run...We always meet at Tri-Beach at 7:00 am on Sundays.... We are racing there this Sunday.... the "Trilogy #3...but...if you would like to join us in our trainings...let me know...you are welcome...!!! |

I train with Velo every other week on Key Biscayne and during the week I ride there 2-3 times...it's pretty much the only place I ride since I live so close and don't want to have to drive far. if you look in the routes section there are some rides going south from Key biscayne...if you go to http://www.teamhammerheads.com/ you can check the teams ride and run routes. |
