Anyone doing the race at Moss Park. I want to do the Oly on July 19. I heard they are smaller races. Are they well run? They website has very little course info.

I did one of the first Buttar Tri's at Moss park many years ago.  I haven't heard anything bad about their tri's.  As for the course, everything is two laps.  I loved the run, under huge oak trees and on a soft dirt road.

Oh, I'm sure you'll be getting some feedback from others on more recent MP events.

Did the wildman sprint that was put on by the same group at the same location, Buttar.com.  I thought they did a great job.  Well organized, no problems on the course, plenty of post race stuff.  There was a pre-race briefing online a couple evenings before the race.  RD went through the course and answered questions.  If it is the same as wildman: there is a lengthy run from the water to transistion, bike course is fast with a lot of turns, run is on hard pack sand through the park, all shaded.  Looks like ~6/ag over the 30-50ages last year.

I did the Wildman Tri back in March and it was put together real well!  I will most likely be signing up for this tri just because i was soooo impressed by them last time.

Someone from my Tir club said the lake is on the nasty side. I htink she said the race she did was after one of the hurricanes so that maybe why. Is the run on solid smooth gravel road or isit more like a trail run? I like the idea that is is shady sounds like a nice race. Any recomendations on where to stay. I plan to come up on sat for the sun Oly.

There's a lot of options as it's near the Orlando International airport.  Do a search on this forum for Wildman or Moss park with me as the author and you should find a post I did with a Google link to hotels in the area.  Or just do a Google search yourself.

If it was after a major storm, any body of water in FL will be nasty.  The lake, like may others in CFL, is dark from the tree tannin, nothing wrong with it.

I wish I would be home, I'll be out on a little vacation and will be running in the Boilermaker 15k with my wife and friends.

Have fun and safe race everyone!

The water at Moss park is darker than most central Florida lakes. Expect no visibility, I found it a little claustrophobic myself, but I'm not a strong swimmer. The run is shaded and nice. I don't like the lake, but others may have no problem with it.

I'm doing the Oly.  This is my first Buttar race so I can't offer any feedback on their races.  Looking forward to it though!

I signed up for the Oly. This is my first tri longer than a sprint. Doing a HIM in Sept so figured I needed to get some longer races in for practice.

The sprint is a great first race.  Well run.  The lake is wicked dark, the color is like wicked strong ice tea.  But it's clean, just very hard to see.  The bike course is nice.  Kinda technical, lots of turns from what I remember.  Through some nice residential neighborhoods.  When I raced there were a lot of home owners sitting in lawn chairs on their front lawns cheering us on.  (That was pretty cool for my first race).  the run was great.  I'm a super clyde, and running under a canopied trees on hard pack was pretty nice.

Not doing this one now   Everyone I was going to race it with (ie. share expenses) can't do it for one reason or another.  Think I'm heading to clermont for a nice weekend of hills.  GOOD LUCK to everyone racing it!  Will look for the race reports

I really enjoyed racing here. The water is so dark that you cant see your hand but seems clean. It was a great smaller race. The bike course has enough twist and turns to keep you intrested but not slow you down. The run is mostly shaded but on dirt road. Plenty of pizza at the finish line. I would come here to race again. Dont book at the "host" hotel it is 45 min from the park. I was lucky and found this out before hand. there are a ton of hotels by the airport about 10 mins from the race.

If you are racing at Moss Park I've found this ot be a very affordable and relatively close hotel at whihc to stay..
