Subject: Navy Triathlete
Hello everyone. I have been in the navy for 3 years. At my last command, I did volunteer work at two triathlons. Immediatley I knew that I wanted to do this. I went out and bought a bike and started training. I finally did my first triathlon two months ago. It was a military triathlon on the island of Diego Garcia, that is where I am stationed now. I will be moving to San Diego, CA. in about a month. I've heard that there are a lot of triathlons that go on all year there. I cant wait.

Welcome Michael,

Good to have you aboard. Being in the Navy - you should be at a pretty good fitness level already. That'll help.

I think there is a pretty big Triathlon at Mission Bay  every year. In fact, that was the first Triathlon venue ever - so I'm told.....

Welcome to the board and I'm also a Navy Triathlete (portuguese navy tho)
I'm sure you'll have much more races to chose than in Diego Garcia

I loved my first tri... I had a great time and met a bunch of really nice people. I can't wait to do another. I'm sure I'll have a few to choose from when I get to San Diego.

This is my first time being stationed in San Diego...I will be at school in Coronado Island. Right now I'm looking to do some olympic or sprint tri's. I don't think I'm ready for a 1/2 IR yet.
