Anybody free for and open water swim at Cedar Beach (near Kingsville) around 10am?

I would also like to get out on May 27th right after work (5pm).  Belle River in next weekend and this will give me 2 OWS before the race.

I haven't made it out for any OWS yet but I have in-laws in Kingsville.

Is Cedar Beach the best place to do a weekend swim in that area (whenever I get around to doing one)?  I'm thinking I'd like to get some training in when I go for visits.

It is a very  nice beach, change rooms on site, parking, and deep enough water so you don't have to go out too far.  There are a few of us in the area, so just post when you are in town.

I'd like to join you for a swim but I'm out for now with a torn rotator cuff. Rehab is progressing slowly so I probably won't be doing any racing until late summer.

Cedar Beach seems to be the best spot in the county for swimming. As well as what Tabbs said the bottom is sandy and it generally has some of the lowest coliform counts as the summer progresses. The other spot that I like, particularly as coliform counts start to rise, is the east side of Point Pelee.

I can probably make it out for both of those swims!

But I reserve the right to chicken out on the 24th if the weekend is as cold and miserable as predicted.

Freshjive - 2010-05-20 6:37 AM Dave, what happed? I hope you have a speedy recovery.

At first the doctors thought that it was a continuation of my disk problems, but the CT scan did not show very much so they decided that I tore my rotator cuff playing racquetball. If it is my rotator cuff I should be training again in 4-6 weeks.

Sounds like fun!
Hope I can make it, can't make any promises though.
Went in Belle River today, it was chilly.
It really helps having the neoprene hood and boots

Sure Jeff rub it in. I had to keep moving when I went in. My toes would go numb if I stopped.

Sorry, I didn't realize that this isn't a long weekend in the States! We are taking advantage by taking the kids to the Detroit Zoo tomorrow.

Enjoy your swim - see you Thursday!
