Is golf really a sport? I love Golf... It's a game for a lifetime that one will never master. No matter how poorly you play, there will always be that one shot or putt that will bring you back for more. Definitely Chicken Soup for the soul.. I agree that Tiger should have sit this one out, but if the Coach picks you any pro wold be foolish not to accept. Again.. my 2 cents This makes me laugh. Woods and Stricker had the best record record of all American players. Two Americans went without a win and Mickelson (World's #3 ) went 1-3-0. The other three Captain's picks for the U.S. went a combined 3-2-5 with Zach Johnson at 2-1-0, Stewart Cink at 1-0-3 and Rickie Fowler at 0-1-2. The fact of the matter is that this is not golf as most American's know the game. This is match play. Match play means that if you win the hole you get a point and if you lose a hole your opponent gets a point. If you tie, no points are given. This style is perfect for Tiger Woods because he is most often very good in a particular round and he may have 3 holes where he is very bad. Rarely does he motor along at par, but instead he plays birdie, birdie, bogey, par, birdie, double bogey, par etc. That would be a round score of par in stroke play, but give you and excellent chance of winning 3 holes, losing two and pushing two - depending on your opponent. In that case he is 1 up. Huge difference in the game. |
