Comments: Wearing Wetsuit-sleeveless 3mil What would you do differently?: train! Transition 1
Comments: I was light headed from pushing myself too hard on the swim. I decided to take my time and let my head clear What would you do differently?: not overdo the swim Bike
Comments: I took it nice and easy-my goal was to complete the race...and not hurt myself. I was having problems with my front derailer-I couldn't shift high or low...I was stuck in the middle. Seeing how the course was flat it didn't really matter, but it was annoying. I was using toe clips for the first time and both of my arches knotted up. It was probably my shoes to blame-they were really flexible running shoes. What would you do differently?: get biking shoes Transition 2
Comments: Didn't need to change shoes. I just took of my helmet, put on my hat, and grabbed my water bottle and gel. What would you do differently?: I could have been faster, but that wasn't my goal this time. Run
Comments: I just trotted/jogged. My friend Maneesh waited for me and Dave had finished so we all jogged together, taking our time and chatting. I had some cramping in my calves, but was otherwise great. Towards the end I was beginning to feel a bit asthmatic. What would you do differently?: Train and then be more competitive. Again-I was doing this for fun, not a medal. I am happy with my performance. I had bad stress fractures in High School and have not run since because of pain. I am happy to say that I had no problems. Post race Warm down: I wandered around, munching on the provided snacks, sipping my water bottle, and breaking into my nice, cold watermelon. I socialized with Maneesh and Dave and did some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I did not train. Event comments: $45 Check-in 8:45am start 10am Was very casual...only 28 contestants between two events-17 in the tri. I didn't get my splits so the break down is just estimated. It doesn't even add up properly Last updated: 2008-06-10 12:00 AM |

Went to bed late because my bike still had repairs to get done. got about 4 hours of sleep. I had some hot cereal with raisins, a bottle of water, some lemonade, and some very hearty toast for breakfast. On the ride I had half a banana and another bottle of water.
We were running late so I only had time to check in, set up transition, use the restroom and get into my wetsuit. Actual warm-up consisted of about 45 seconds of swimming.
