Comments: Once again, race management decisions made the difference. I was cold this morning, and so I put too many layers on, not realizing that most of the course was either sheltered from the wind, or with the wind at my back. At just after mile 2, I all of a sudden started sweating bullets (so to speak) and got light-headed. So - I walked for a couple of minutes, and then just jogged the rest of the race in. Disappointing, but I suppose overall still not a horrendous time. What would you do differently?: Wear fewer layers. I think I just started overheating. Once I got light-headed, I took off my hat and unzipped two layers and started feeling better... but by that time, it was too late to salvage the race. Of course, it's NOT supposed to be 34 friggin' degrees at this time of the year!!!!! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Go back out on the course and run in with a friend of mine. And then the best part -- we decided we had earned a trip to IHOP for breakfast. YUM!! :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Bad clothing decisions. Event comments: Very nice race. Decent goody bag, lots of volunteers out. I think there would have been a pretty big turn out if the weather had been more cooperative. Last updated: 2005-04-18 12:00 AM

Same as usual... bagel about two hours before, gel about 30 minutes before. Trying out new gels, and didn't like this one quite so much. I think I prefer ones with a little caffeine in them to give me a little extra kick.
Jump around trying to keep warm.
