Subject: What to expect...Collarbone SurgeryI am now 4+ weeks post surgery from having a plate and screws put in to repair my collarbone fracture. The recovery has been great so far. Little pain and decent movement. I have been pretty good at following orders not to do anything that puts stress or pressure on my left arm/collarbone. I am not to do anything until I see the doc next week. The swelling around the incision is ok. There's some redness and a bit of puffiness, but all in all, it looks good. I'm hoping that he will give me the OK to start exercising/training when I see him next week. All I have been able to do is walk on the treadmill and outside on the hills around my house. Guess the question is....what can I expect in terms of my recovery from here on out? I know that swimming will probably be the hardest, since there are some range of motion issues. what about biking and running? Any thoughts from those who have broken their collarbones and needed surgery to repair it. Good thing all the road rash has healed... |
