Subject: Bike training time question

i have a question regarding training on the bike.  if the program calls for 40minutes of bike time, does it matter whether I'm out on the road or have my bike hooked to a stationary trainer in my basement?  I thought i had read somewhere that on a trainer, you only need to do 75% of the time because you are pedaling the whole time, versus some natural coasting time on the road.  I'm not trying to get out of extra work, but with limited time and specific goals for my 1st Sprint, it would be nice to know.  any advice?

I would call it even. On the trainer you also avoid other conditions like wind and other elements that would otherwise slow you down or increase resistance outside. Put the 40 minutes in either way.
