Subject: HR Zones or Average
I have a Garmin 305 that I have been using for most of my training, except for swimming that is.  I want to know how to determine whether I am pushing myself too much or if I can go a bit more.  Basically, what would be my ideal HR during a race?  I am 5'10", 190-195lbs, and 30 years old.  I used to max out when  I first started at about 185-188.  Now I am maxing out at about 175-178, should I be pushing myself to the 185 mark or was I too high to begin with.  Also, I have not even loaded the Garmin program into my computer to be able to download the info.  Any advice or info towards utilizing the Garmin 305 potential, I really don't know what to look for.  I know information is the key, but what is the best use of it to benefit your training?

Ideal race HR depends on the individual as well as the length of the race. First you need to find your individual HR training zones, most commonly used is lactate threshold herat rate testing to set the zones. Start with this long but very informative thread:http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=25733&start=1
