Subject: Teach me About HR training
So I've searched the forum, and I've picked up a little, but evidently I'm not that bright, because I continue to be confused. I saw this:Run test protocol:

After a 15 minute warm-up of easy running, finish with a few quick 20 seconds bursts to get your heart rate in the correct training zone.
  • The 30 minute TT begins.
  • At 10 minutes into the test, hit the 'Lap' button on your heart rate monitor, to get the average heart rate over the final 20 minutes of the test.
  • The average for the final 20 minutes is your Lactate Threshold or LT.
  • You should finish knowing you gave it everything you had.

So I did this this morning. I have the results. I just don't know what they mean. Or what to do with them.
During the TT portion I averaged 8:15 min/mile and my avergae HR was 167. My Max HR was 175. So my LT is 167 right? Now what do i do with this info? Any help is appreciated!

Yes, you have a relatively good idea of what your RUN LT is now.

If you go onto your BT log, there is a part where you can click on HR zones.  Then you can put in your LT number and it will lay out your zones.  Assuming you use a BT plan, then your workouts may use the zones you've established to regulate effort.

Or, you can simply use your pace that you achieved and base your workouts around variations of that pace for different intensity levels.
