Comments: I started pretty slow because of many people around even if I was in the B wave. I felt great and I tried to keep myself conservative because in this period I was not feeling 100% of shape. But I have been comparing my splits to my PB of 2h49'37" and at the half marathon I was 15 seconds better than the PB. My feeling was great and at the 35th km I was 36secs late compared to my PB. Then I decided to attack and I pushed a lot the 36th but I was 4secs late again and the race finished there for me. I switched off the engine and I went to the finish smiling, happy anyway. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walking for about 1km and then a shower What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably a little bit faster on the first half of 20secs. Event comments: I don't like such big events in general and going to the start was a mess. Be sure to go well in advance there. Last updated: 2009-09-24 12:00 AM

I was up at 5am, relaxing and waiting for the breakfast at 6am in my hotel. I had a glas of orange juice, two white bread slices with strawberry jelly on top and lot of caffe.
Long walk of about 2km to the starting area from my hotel drinking apple juice (250ml) and 1 hour before the race start (9am) I had a pack of Powerbar ride gels.
Then after dropping my bag I run to the starting grid but it was full of people and scaring because everybody was rushing there.
