Pre-race routine:

Got up had a banana. Drove up to my office which is right by the starting line.
Event warmup:

Ran from my office over to the race start. Did some stretching and a few runs up and down the street.

Comments:

Went out too fast. My first two miles were 7:11 and 7:17. I was hurting in miles 3 and 4. Really tried to stick with my form and get out of my head, but my lack of training was really starting to show it's head. I started feeling better at about mile 5 and realized that even though 50:00 was long gone, I could still PR. Picked up the pace, then once I could hear the finish I just went flat out.

51:35 was PR by a little over 1:00.
What would you do differently?:

When I originally signed up for this race, I was thinking sub 50:00, because this is a PR course. Then life got in the way. In the 2 weeks leading up to the race, I think I got in maybe 5 runs. My girlfriends parents were in town one week, then I was sick for the week leading up to the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much. I was so close to my house that I walked by Starbucks for some coffee, then walked home. Didn't stay around the finish long, had to go to the Clemson vs. Auburn football game.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training. Pure and simple. I have decided to to the Atlanta Marathon, so I think that the increase in run volume will really help out my running.

PR is a PR!  I went out too fast...I think 5K / 10K races push you that way.  I know I would be faster by negative splitting.  We must have been really close to each other in the first few miles.  We will meet up on of these days....LOL
