route manager is whacked!!

What happened to the route manager on this site? 

I haven't used it for a few months and back then it was pretty easy to use. 

But when I tried it last week and then again today it doesn't work like it should (used to).  As you click along the map, instead of it drawing a line from point to point, it randomly draws lines back and fourth on the road, taking side roads and is basically unusable in its current form.

Anyone else having this problem?  Did the tool recently have some "enhancement" that screwed it up?
