Thinking about getting just a basic Polar HRM.  Will even the basic Polar HRM upload to the training logs?

Sorry, no. The RS100 doesn't have any watch to PC data transfer abilities. The least expensive Polar product I'm aware of that would work is the RS300. I've seen them for as low as $90.
