Subject: RE: Seat Height- for a 3yo? (Striding to riding transition)For our boys, I put it up high enough so they can be in the saddle and feet touch the ground. It does look like they are riding low on their 12" bikes, and I think it has something to do with the geometry of the bike. The 12" bikes were really only made to ride with training wheels, where it doesn't matter if your feet touch the ground or not since they start and come to a complete stop with their feet on the pedals.
Our twin boys are getting 16" bikes next month when they turn 5. Looking forward to seeing them on bikes that fit better. It may be tougher to touch the ground from the saddle for a bit, but they should figure it out quickly enough. |
