Subject: RE: HITS Triathlon Series: Grand Junction - Full Iron Course : Official Thread I did the half last year. Had a great experience. The race director is very hands on and puts on a very well run race. Don't think you'll find a better transition area configuration - you get your own stool and there is plenty of room. Aid stations were well stocked, but they ran out of cold sponges late in my part of the run.
Swim - The water last year was very cold. They said it was in the 60's, but I highly doubt it was. I'm guessing more like mid to upper 50's. Bring a neoprene cap.
Bike - You do cross a few cattle guards which is interesting. It's setup with a few out and backs which would be good if you have anyone coming out to watch. It's a pretty easy ride unless the wind picks up.
Run - Out and back. A few short hills and not much shade. Part dirt roads, part pavement.
I don't think they had a lot of full participants so you may be racing yourself a lot of the day. There is a writeup (I think on BT ) where someone was finishing around midnight and couldn't believe the support from the HITS team and volunteers. I will definitely consider any event that HITS puts on in the future. |
