Subject: RE: Hi thereHello and welcome to BT. You should be able to find a lot of support and information on triathlon, triathlon training and your troubles with addiction here. I have no idea of what you're going through with your addiction but other people have struggled and made it through and I hope you will keep struggling with it and eventually be free of it. Obviously, it is not what you want for your life or you wouldn't be here. I've never experienced withdrawal but I understand it to be pretty terrible. I can tell you that training for triathlons will help you to some extent so keep training. Are you training on some consistent plan already? You can also see a chiropractor who will adjust you (it won't fix the problem but it will alleviate your aches and pains of withdrawal for a while which may make it easier for you) perhaps if you are near to the Chiro college in Toronto you can go to their clinic and get help if you don't have a chiro). Then you also need help in the form of support and good advice from someone near you. Preferably someone who knows what you are going through. So when you ask about going to Edgewood - you should absolutely go to Edgewood even if you just go to talk to someone and get information on what help may be available to you. Support of friends, family and professionals should help you a lot. If you would like to talk to more people here about addiction you could post a question on breaking your habit or on using Tri training to help you overcome your addiction in the My Cup of Jo forum. There have been threads there from other people fighting there own addictions. You ask if you can handle the addiction yourself. No one can answer that but I would say it is possible that you could handle it yourself but it is a whole lot easier if you have support from people who understand what you are going through. Living in Toronto should provide you access to a lot of help. Stay with BT and keep training but also get the help you need. Good luck to you. |
