Comments: I ran the half marathon the day before this. I felt really badly after the half - headache, nauseous, just overall horrible. I was a bit worried about how I'd do today but knew I could walk it if worse came to worse. I wore tights because it was so cold at the start, but it was up to near 60 by the end. I stuck with my sister to about the halfway point, then she started slowing down. I was getting in a groove so I just wanted to keep going! I got faster as the race went on. I think I could have gone faster overall but the crowds were just awful. Dodging around walkers for five and a half hours... yeah. There were no times where there weren't gobs and gobs of people around. I'm not sure I'd do this race again, getting up so early, waiting around, and 20,000 other people - not really my thing. The medal was nice though! :) What would you do differently?: nothing - I did much better than I thought I would! Post race
Warm down: Got all my bling and swag and sat down and stretched, and waited for my hubby, sister, and friend to get done! What limited your ability to perform faster: let's see - lack of sleep, running a half marathon the day before, going to the amusement parks for 2 days... yeah, not ideal racing conditions by any means. Event comments: I think this would be a great race for a first time marathon runner, with no time goals. Lots of large pace groups doing run/walk, lots of costumes, tons of drink stations and volunteers. Overall a good race if big races are your thing! Last updated: 2018-01-09 12:00 AM

The usually peanut butter and honey sandwich for breakfast. Woke up ast the ungodly hour of 4:00 a.m. We arrived at about 5:00, then stayed in the car for another 20 minutes to stay warm. The race started at 5:30 but we were in the last corral (grr!) so we didn't cross the start line until just after 6:30!
Standing around shivering - does that count?
