Subject: 12.06.2019 Friday Fitness Greetings. Here is what I have in the way of training for the day. 6:00 AM - 6 mile run I have been doing medium runs on Thursdays, long runs of Fridays, and long bike rides on Saturdays for a few years. I liked putting the long run and the long bike ride back to back because my schedule doesn't allow me to do 5-hour training sessions to get used to working for that block of time so I don't get mentally fatigued during 70.3 events and do 5 hours between two long back-to-back workouts is the next best thing for that. Still, I have been considering moving my long runs to Wednesday so that I go into long bike rides fresher. This morning's run may have confirmed that that is a good idea. Yesterday's medium-run was scheduled for 6-1/2 miles with the first 5-minutes as warm-up, the last 5-minutes as cool down and the rest of the time on zone 2. I nailed the run yesterday. During the Zone 2 work I was knocking out 6:45-6:55 min/mile pace and felt light, springy, and relaxed. I expected today to go the same only with a linger time in zone 2. Well...it didn't. I felt sluggish and dead legged. I started out at about 7:15 min/mi pace which wasn't too bad, but after a few miles I was doing 7:45 min/mi place which is more my marathon training pace than what I am used to for my triathlon plan. So moving the long run may help keep things on track. Take Care. |
