Total Time = 31m 38s
Overall Rank = 101/178
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 5/8
Pre-race routine:

Ate ONE bar protein bar. Arrived at parking, slightly delayed but not frazzled. Walked down to transition without my gear to check in, down a long hill, only to find that check in was up at the lodge. Went back up the hill, checked in, applied stickers and chip and took gear down to transition.
Event warmup:

No warm up. The event itself is a warmup.
Swim
  • 06m 25s
  • 250 yards
  • 02m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

I am good at sighting and not everyone is. At first I was freaked out that I was off course because I was alone, but really I was continuously heading to the buoy. I was not swimming hard at all.
What would you do differently?:

Tighten my goggles a little.
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

Uphill bike start, of course.
Had some cold water in my ears, so I was a bit dizzy getting out of the water and there was no chance I was going to run in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Shake water out of ears upon exiting the lake.
Bike
  • 12m 36s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 15.48 mile/hr
Comments:

Good practice turning and riding the brakes. I'm new to disc brakes.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to develop leg power. I'm still weaker compared to the field.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

I'm new to racking the bike with disc brakes. Couldn't get it to stay.
What would you do differently?:

Put wetsuit on the fence and get it out of the way from the start. Too much stuff gumming up the works.
Run
  • 09m 11s
  • 1.1 miles
  • 08m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

This was fine.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Good job NOT eating the tacos from the taco truck.
Went back up to the RV and ate my protein shake.
Took a little too long to do that, because it turned out we had to take all of our stuff out of transition for the night, which was a bummer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did not desire to perform any faster here.

Event comments:

Great community feel. Nice to start meeting the people I would be racing with the rest of the weekend.
