Swim
Comments: First time wearing a wetsuit for the swim. It rode up on me as I was swimming, which I did not expect. It was relatively easy to stay buoyant and I just chugged along like I do in practice and didn't try hard at all. I wasn't tired at all once I finished. Transition 1
Comments: Really rocky/gravel parking lot, so had to choose my footing carefully. Bike
Comments: Rough park roads until a few miles out of the park. Then it was extremely smooth and nice and had a tailwind. At about the turnaround spot is when roads got rougher again and more than half the course was into the wind. Not so fun. And I haven't done any hard work on the bike, so I was extra tired. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2 Run
Comments: Absolutely horrible run. Immediately after getting off the bike my quads started cramping. I slowed down as a precaution. The cramps never went away. My cardio was fine, but I was severely limited by those cramps. Also had a horrible feeling of needing to go #2 the whole run. What would you do differently?: Although I've done zero race specific training and zero longer distance training, I still have trouble with anything more than a sprint tri in getting my quads to not kill me. I can run half marathons all day long and no quad issues, but it's just something about transitioning from the bike to running in longer triathlons that my quads don't like. Post race
Warm down: Immediately went to the bathroom only to be disappointed with no results. Got some delicious watermelon at the snack tent. Did some stretching and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Leg cramps Event comments: I liked getting to do a race in a wetsuit. I've never had one before and that limited some of the races I could do. It surprises me how well I can swim against other people without having hardly swam at all in almost 2 years. I had swam not even 10 times in 2 years. Last updated: 2022-03-24 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:30am to make it to venue because it was about an hour away. Got McDonald's the day before so that I had something tasty to eat in the morning.
Did about 5 minutes of warm-up in the lake. Otherwise, lots and lots of standing around waiting for the olympic distance to start. I was second to the last wave to go and we probably waited about 45 minutes from when the sprint waves started.
