Run
Comments: 165 out of 946 in my age group and 750 out of 5614 males. Hard to get into pace until about 3 or 4 mile mark due to the sheer number of people. Even though I started in coral # 3. A lot of people moved up into other corals. Humidity was 96% at the start so it felt really warm quick. Almost chocked trying to drink and run. Walked at one drink station just to get some gatorade down. What would you do differently?: This was my first one and also my longest run ever. Maybe have a pace partner and train more. I am pretty satisfied with the result. No where near ready for a full one yet. Put a better start time to get myself closer to the front where there is less traffic to weed through (then blow up a lot earlier). Maybe a fuel belt with several water flasks to help stay hydrated. Post race
Warm down: None. Cold water was given out and cold towels. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and traffic. Did get a blister on my right foot from my feet being wet (pouring water over my head to keep cool did not help). Event comments: Very well supported and tons of spectators cheering you along. Course was nice and flat except for one bridge (not long enough to really hurt). Would love to do another. Last updated: 2004-08-13 12:00 AM

Up at 4am. Ate a bagel and drank 24 ounces of water. Left house @ 0445 and went to shuttle area. Got to race at 0530. Ate another bagel and had some powerbar drink. Hit the port-a-potty twice before the start.
