Pre-race routine:

umm, didn't have one :) had to go back in the house after inital locking up 4 times which is why you should have a routine or at least a plan LOL!
Event warmup:

Ran around transition area bring sandals to teammate.
Swim
  • 19m 30s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 36s / 100 meters
Comments:

considering the conditions .. teammate did an awesome job!!!
What would you do differently?:

more time in open water training...long john suit .. sleeveless preferrably.
Transition 1
  • 02m 33s
Comments:

there was a fairly steep hill leaving transition 1 which made it difficult for biker's to get out of the way after leaving the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

practice more...
Bike

Comments:

Lots of people encouraging me to finish :) that was pretty cool. I must have looked like hell !! LOL you can't really spit in a head wind when your saliva is gooey. ICK!!! allergies with all the hay and pastures LOL so snotty drizzles too. Can you picture it... me spitting it gluing itself to the side of my face and drying with all the salt from the sweat and then the snot ... i liked like a kid who didn't know what a kleenex is. LOL
What would you do differently?:

train better.
Transition 2
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

i'm going to need to practice walking after running more...i just about didn't make it to the transition area vertical. vertigo or something :)
What would you do differently?:

traim better
Run
  • 22m 48s
  • 2 miles
  • 11m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

short course...
What would you do differently?:

train better
Post race
Warm down:

eat :) and stretch...could have used a massage for right calf .. it's had a problem cramping for the past week or so and it's not getting better...no massage people present. lots of food though :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training .. headwind .. water ..

Event comments:

apparently this was taken over by another race director from last year. it was not well organized and the results are tainted which is too bad considering it could have been a great race. some people got shorted on distances .. some people ran more than they had to... or biked more or less than required. hardly any sponsors after and the award for the sprint section never happened. I'm assuming they coupled it together with the olympic. hopefully next year they'll have it worked out.

it was very very very windy ! believe it or not 90% if the course had a headwind directly in your face or diagnonally.
Wind: Headwind with gusts
Course: crosswind, never a tail wind...go figure! and it looped enough so that it was almost always an incline...granted it wasn't hugely hilly but it wasn't flat and with the wind it was slow and they shorted the course 3 miles. we had expected 14 miles not that 11 didn't feel like 15. :)

No shortage of challenges I see. Looks like you had a good race and have a good base to work from for your next race.
