Age Group Rank = 4/4
Pre-race routine:

1 can of Slimfast and cereal bar for breakfast
Event warmup:

Running around to find friend who had car keys - forgot my helmet in car!! Eek!
Swim
  • 29m 56s
  • 1012 yards
  • 02m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went better than expected. Water temp was 65, but didn't feel that cold. Was able to get into my rhythum right away.
What would you do differently?:

swim more than once a week for training
Transition 1
  • 03m 10s
Comments:

race has wet suit strippers!!! Definately a plus.
Bike
  • 1h 53m 18s
  • 28 miles
  • 14.83 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

push harder up hills
Transition 2
  • 04m 49s
Comments:

had to take a pit stop at porta potties before leaving on run
Run
  • 1h 39m 14s
  • 6.55 miles
  • 15m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

I was feeling great until mile 4 1/2, then the wheels feel off. Up until that point was under goal time by 2 min/mile. Not sure why, but had been sick for 10 days prior to race and missed some critical run workouts. Socks were wet and got "hot spots" under most of my toes.
What would you do differently?:

bring dry pair of socks on run, or change after bike.
Post race
Warm down:

none, just tried to make it to car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

being sick and missing some key workouts during training

Event comments:

Will definately be doing it again next year and will hit more of Red Rock's races.

Nice race!  I did the 1/2 - I enjoyed the course!

Are you putting on socks after the swim and wearing the same socks to run?  Sometimes that can be the issue for "hot spots"
