Subject: first bike ride EVER.Well, Friday I finally did it...went on my first ride. I recently decided to switch from marathons to triathlons, but I have that small hump to get over (mainly, how to ride and how to swim ). I realized that I haven't been on a bike since maybe...8 years ago?
I was stationed in Iraq for 13 months and met a great running partner out there. Her name was Meg. We trained for a marathon together, and she helped me reach my first BQ. She was also heavily in to tri's. She did 8 Ironman's (to include Kona ) and various other distance events.
Sadly, she was killed by a roadside bomb while we were overseas. This took a while for me to get over, but that's neither here nor there. Her family sent me her training (road ) bike to continue the legacy that was Meg.
I'm so proud to have taken her bike out for our first ride. She treated me well, I didn't spill once! Hopefully I'll live up to her name, and make them all proud
It was indeed a memorable first ride. |
