![]() | ![]() You might want to revise this disclaimer ***Please note that www.lztri.com is not an authorized website for the 2008 triathlon. If you have already registered for the triathlon on that website please call and cancel. All registration needs to be done through this website. Also, please tell all family and friends that this is the website to register for the Lake County (Zurich) Triathlon. Thank You, The Lake County Triathlon Staff*** The Old Lake Zurich Triathlon in a sense no longer exits, lztri is moving to Waconda (sp?) and it looks like a new RD is taking over at the old location. Telling people to call and cancel a triathlon that isn't connected to your triathlon is bizarre. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am confused. So does this mean that there is a tri at the old Lake Zurich location and Running Away is hosting a different tri in Wauconda?? |

chirunner134 - 2008-05-30 12:02 PM yeah that is weird, but being on the board of the Lake Zurich running club I know our race director wondered if they were going to have the LZ tri this year. [/QUOTE Running Away had been working to get the Lake Zurich tri put on this year as usual, but the lake zurich homeowners association wanted way too much money for use of their lake.....which is why the old LZ tri is now the Bangs Lake Triathlon, held in Wauconda. Now it's pretty clear that the reason the LZ lake people were so difficult is because they wanted to try to put on their own race and pass it off as the "old" LZ tri, which it's not. It's a new race put on by people who refer to us as "tri-athletes." Which somehow doesn't give me much confidence - I wouldn't touch that race with a 10-foot pole, since these are people who've never put on a tri before, but (it seems to me) thought it would be easy money. And the disclaimer? I think that's illegal, since Running Away (which also puts on the BigFoot tri in June) BOUGHT the rights to the LZ tri, I'm pretty sure. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm deciding to do a quality race on August 10th and it seems the choices have expanded? I'm not sure about the Lake Zurich thing, but i do know that Bangs Lake Multisport race has an event from Running Away Multisport. I've done the Pleasant Prairie Tri for several years and when Running Away was associated with the race, it was a first class event. Their organization has led to me register for Bigfoot in Lake Geneva (instead of doing HighCliff 1/2 which i've done the past few years). I'm strongly considering the Bangs Lake race because of the partnership with RA. It would lead me away from a Wisconsin favorite - Camp Whitcomb Tri and I would also be racing 3 weekends (Aug 10,17,24). With similar prices I think you get more Bang for Buck @ Bang's Lake. I would be happy to compete at the Lake County Triahtlon if the race director is willing to comp my entry fee. |

To whom it may concern:
As a member of Articulate Promotions, I would like to clear up any confusion regarding the Lake County Triathlon. The information regarding the last post was written by an uninformed member.
The same owner hosted the Lake Zurich Triathlon for the past 11 years in conjunction with the Lake Property Owners Association. The original owner sold the option of the race to Ram Racing, who has never hosted this event in the past. Unfortunately, Ram Racing and the Lake Property Owners Association could not agree on terms to hosting the event together in the traditional location.
Keeping in mind the best interest of all the community’s athletes, the Lake Property Owners Association hired a management company to co-host the Lake County Triathlon that would take place in the traditional event location on August 10th.
The only difference between this year’s race and the past 10 years of its history is the new management company and the race’s new name. The current hosts have cooperated with the event’s past hosts and are confident that this year’s race in Lake Zurich will be equally, if not more enjoyable than the race held in Lake Zurich over the past 10 years. The course, its logistics and all of its amenities are the same as years past. Ram Racing may own the name, The Lake Zurich Triathlon, but are not hosting their event in Lake Zurich. The classic location and traditions of the race are being upheld with the Lake County Triathlon.
Hundreds of athletes have already signed up to take part in this exciting event. Articulate Promotions is honored to keep the best interests of the village’s tradition as well as its athletes.
To those athletes taking part in the Big Foot Triathlon in Wauconda, or any other local race, Articulate Promotions wishes you nothing but the best of luck in hopes of beating all your personal records. For any questions or concerns regarding the Lake County Triathlon, please contact Danielle Plantz at [email protected] or call 847-540-3177. |

Hmmm, a sock-puppet with a "real name" the same as the promoter of the event? Yeah, that tells me it's a professionally run event. |

![]() | ![]() As a member of Articulate Promotions I would like to make it known that 'infinite endorphins' is not involved in the Lake County Triathlon or a member of our staff. We would appreciate it if you do not make assumptions and remain civil about the issue. If you do choose to run at Bang's Lake instead we wish you the best of luck.

Just found out that the only time for packet pickup is Race Morning. - not a good sign And no details on the swim. I am not doing the race I have another race that day that is close by ![]() The swim is basicly across the lake if you are doing the Oly. You go from the one public beach to the other one. |

New user ![]() | ![]() joemir - 2008-08-05 3:01 PM ANYONE doing this ? Just found out that the only time for packet pickup is Race Morning. - not a good sign And no details on the swim. Having packet pick up on race day is the REASON I'm doing this race. I would have done the Bang Lake race but I'm not driving down to Running Away on a Friday afternoon to get my packet. That's a lot of gas money. The 12-4 packet pickup on Saturday in Wauconda is too small a time window. And at Bigfoot we all had to stand around for an hour waiting for the the goodie bags. If you did Bigfoot then you know the swim was not set up properly either. With a dog leg out and back course, there was nothing keeping people from swimming straight to the far buoy except the race director saying "just stay close to the buoys". The Bangs Lake race is set up the exact same way. But the best part about the race in Lake Zurich is that the streets will be closed to traffic! The streets are open for the Bangs Lake race. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hmmm...just found out that a portion of the bike leg (Ivanhoe Rd) will be shared by BOTH the Bangs Lake Tri and the Lake County Tri. That should make for an interesting morning...especially since each race is heading in the opposite direction. |

In fact they were hoping it would happen. Funny is both races are 2 loops so we will giving each other high 5 twice. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I called the contact number on the Bangs Lake website, to inquire about the road sharing. I was assured that there will be plenty of police and volunteers to direct the flow of bike traffic on that stretch of Ivanhoe Road...so we shall see what transpires, come Sunday morning. Me thinks it's going to be a clusterf***, but I hope I'm wrong about that. Edited by nscrbug 2008-08-07 2:11 PM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() just be happy we are not going the same direction. Though once again it would be kinda funny. Plus then it asks the question if it is illegal to draft someone in a different race. how would drafting officials even be able to work that section? That would truly be funny (and sad). Since its a 2 loop courses for both races it would be fun ( and race illegal) to do one of each course. ![]() since you have to turn around it makes it a little hard to do it. |
