I signed up this morning!    I did a 5 mile last summer but nothing more than a 5K since...

I hope to cross the finish before the sun goes down! Hope to see you there!

I might be convinced. I'm sure I'd PB since I've never done a 10K outside of a Oly tri.

There is so much fun stuff to do that weekend...2 cross races (with Lance), picnic, century of killer hills, road bike race, 10K for women.....now to make some decisions....

I've run the Tufts 10K at least 5 if not 6 years, and it's a classic.  Always a nice event.  So empowering and invigorating to see sooooo many women running!  We take over the Longfellow, Mem Drive, and the Mass Ave bridge for that hour or two.  And the elites -- like gazelles they run before us until we can cheer them on the loop back towards Boston.  It's a great race.

But sadly, it's the day after the BAA Half Mary, which I'm running with my SO, Matthew, so I can't make it out to the Tufts 10K this year.

Good luck to Lisa, Kathy, and everyone else running!

Cheers, -Sunny

I know I can do the distance. It is the family time I need to consider. I'm doing cross every Sunday which are crazy soccer days and makes things hectic....only so much time I can take away from family/kids. They have the day off.

well now that I am NOT running the boston half (meningitis has kind of cut into any training) I might show up for this....

I have to work that day and the kids have  baseball so I am not sure it is feasible - plus Sukkot starts that night and that means cooking, decorating......

sigh

We don't have the day off either... which is weird since we're right over the Longfellow just steps from part of the course!  I'm taking a vacation day, though.

This'll be year 3 for me at Tufts!  I haven't been running more than 4mi at a time until yesterday which was kind of rough on the knees, but it's a flat course and I'm looking forward to hearing Joan Benoit Samuelson cheering me at the finish!

to the Veteran Tufts 10K-ers:

Anyone have a good idea where to meet pre-race?

I'd love to see the faces behind the screen-names!

RedSoxChick - 2008-10-12 10:57 AM

Anyone have a good idea where to meet pre-race?

The Pre-race Warm Up is good since that also gives a time to meet.  The warm up is scheduled for 10:50 and will likely be in the same place between the awards stage with the bandstand/gazebo behind it.  You could always tell folks to meet near the stage/announcer's podium immediately following.

Alternately if you're hoping to meet later than that, a good landmark might be a specific sponsor booth you know will be there-- I've met up with folks next to Luna before, and I know they'll be there this year.  (Hoping to snag some Luna Moons for a pre-run snack   those things are yummy.)

So who doesn't like moons!?! yummy - when i find MAV (and a friend from work) we'll mill around the Luna area - i'll be in a pink SKIRT and black shirt - please introduce yourself if you see me

Thanks for the post Kath! - your inspiration will help me somewhere around the 4.5-5 mile mark

As Lisa told me for my half-mary today "run like a gazelle!" (and I did...)

You ladies will do great tomorrow -- have fun out there.  Keep the phones charged for a meet-up location TBD; it's pretty impossible to plan where/when to meet in my experience there.  Just a big crowd, great vibe, fun scene.  Enjoy the RACE!!

Pink skirt- cute!  I've always wanted to try a running skirt...

I'll be showing up closer to race time, but will stop by Luna to see if anyone's around to say hi.  Black shorts, green tank.

Good luck, Ladies!

Sorry I missed my chance to meet a few of you - ended up being later than expected and that bag check line was enormous.

What a beautiful day for a run--  Hope you Ladies had a good time!
