Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wanted to make a "weight loss" group that focuses on people who want to lose body fat, not so much weight, and gain lean muscle mass. People that are looking to lose maybe 10 lbs at most. Is anybody interested? I was thinking we could just share our goals, triumphs, methods of getting to our final goal, nutrition tips, pics, etc. I was thinking we could check in with body fat % rather than weight and perhaps pictures every month or so. Would anybody be interested in this? I sure hope someone else is, I need some people to suffer with me ;op -Jono Edited by jonnyfive82 2009-07-01 10:47 AM |

![]() | ![]() This sounds like something I would be interested. Im 6'3 about 195 and I could stand to lose a little bit of body fat. I think my ideal weight is going to be about 180-185. Ive never measured my body fat %, so tell me how to do that and I'm 100% on board. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is great! If you need help, please check out my log.. it's a bodybuilding/triathlon style training journal. I can set you training routine and nutrition plan too!! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in! I down to 195 but I want to loose 5 more lbs and get into the single digit fat % If you look at my training you can see I do some weights. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Can a girl play? I have about 10 more pounds to lose and a lot of muscle to gain. I want to lose about 5lbs overall weight with the exchange. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm interested. I have about fourteen pounds to go (more than your suggested ten), but my big issue is that I have been stuck at mid 30's in body fat percentage FOREVER. I want to have between 20-25% body fat. So, if I lost the body fat, I wouldn't particularly care what my weight was.

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Greetings!! Everyone is welcomed aboard ;op Might I suggest that everyone take a picture, some measurements, and record your BF% and weight now so you can better measure your progress. Edited by jonnyfive82 2009-07-01 9:02 PM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I need to do measurements but I will have the basic data for now. I had the little pinch style body fat measurements at my gym like 6 lbs ago and I was at 11.5% then. I think the scale ones I am higher. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in! I am looking to lose 10-15 more lbs...would love to lose 20 but dont want to be to small, the gf doesnt want me to skinny lol. I try to lift weights but more or less feel lost when I go to the gym and end up swimming or riding the stationary bike but I would like to get stronger. Anyways, 5'11 197lbs Will try to get a pic up soon! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, so my stats are yucky this morning, but I am going to go with them anyway. 153.4lbs and 30.4% fat with my handheld bioimpedence caliper. So, I have a question for you all. . . What is your diet going to be looking like? I am strong in the gym and can kick most of the guys butts, but I have had trouble reconciling the traditional "ripping" diet with what is recommended for endurance athletes. How are you all getting the carbs in to do endurance without making a mess of you muscle goals? |

![]() | ![]() Im giving the paleo diet a chance whenever I get my act together. The major drawback I have heard is that it can be expensive which definitely does not fit into my broke college kid lifestyle. |

Paleo is just eating whatever Caveman would have eaten, which is nothing processed or any grains. Mainly protein and fresh fruits and vegetables. I don't think Caveman had a big food budget so you should be OK. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is similar to what I am trying to accomplish. I'm currently at 5' 10" / 221lbs but I believe I want to get down to closer to 200lbs. I currently maintain a high protein / low carb diet but I am trying to get in shape for my first olympic tri in Sept. I was considering modifying my weight training to high rep stuff but I want to keep good muscle mass so I'm a bit torn with how to have everything I want. LOL |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() can i play? sitting on 154ish, 5'7'' BF as of two weeks ago was at 8% weight needs to come down another 5 or so. diet is not changing a ton for this, just watching amounts, ie eating for fuel only. consists of mainly rice, chicken, veggies, and some fruit when i can swing it. not a lot of junk food at all, and not much else as thats what i can afford right now, deff helps cutting weight;-) training right now is sitting on a pretty high load after a break from a HIM, aorund 16-19 hour weekly. Hope to be at my goal by the end of the month and before the next series of races rolls around. searching for photo now. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'd be up for this as well! Right now, I'm sitting at 5'8", 150, down from 178 around December of last year. I might have more than 10lbs to lose, but who knows. I would like to expose my 6-pack to the world by the end of summer, in addition to doing well in my first season of triathlons. Currently I'm taking two easy days, I think I overtrained a little bit. Using quick estimations (waist size, neck circumference) It says I am at 12.7% body fat. Never thought I was that low, but looking at pictures of guys around 13% body fat, I can believe it. I guess I will have to invest in some calipers now! Pictures to come, soon. Member ![]() | ![]() If possible, I'd like to join. I'm 6'-0"... 187 lbs and looking to be at 175 lbs or close to it by the end of this summer. If my scale is correct, I'm at 19% body fat. I guess pics to come. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good luck to everyone.. I'm planning on doing this myself, but not too keen on doing it with it being race season. Plus I gained about 10 lbs of muscle last year, so I'm only looking to shed some fat, not both. Also, I'm not sure how easy it is to lose just fat on cardio/diet alone. This is where strength training is important as it stimulates the body to retain muscle. Some people might lose 50/50 muscle/fat when dieting (this is highly genetic) and is the reason why it's so hard to reach single digit body fat (in men, high teens in women). I might still stop by though with updates though, so I'll post my starting stats. 5'8" 162 lbs, ~12-13% (caliper/scale say 12, but mirror says 13) I want to be 155 by next season and about 9-10% bodyfat. (BTW newbz, at 8%, you're already ripped dude! anything below 10% is very lean, 8-9% is what most professional fighters look like) Edited by Bioteknik 2009-07-06 9:25 AM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'd like in on this as well and it is great timing. I've had about 10 lbs to lose for about 3 months now and I have not been doing much about it. This weekend I decided it was time to get serious. I'll get more exact numbers for all of you tomorrow but I'm about 210 w/ 25% body fat. ok, let's get ripped. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ok, here are two race photos from last season, sitting on 160 or so in the photos, down around 153 right now, would like to be at/just under 150. Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have about 15lbs to lose, but am really more concerned with my BF%. i was blown away to see 29.9 on the scale the other day, and that is after 3 solid weeks of training. I am training for a sprint in september, so i want to be fueled up for my training, but i also want to look good in my tri suit I do have a question. I know the basics of nutrition and a little about timing of meals. I understand to lose weight you have to burn more than you take in, simple... but how do stay fueled to get in good training AND manage to lose weight....am i asking too much? my starting weight as of monday was 151lbs 29.9%BF i am a 5foot5inch female 26 years old |

For a 150 lb female with moderate activities, you need around 2180 kcal a day. Then, to loose weight, you need to eat 500 kcal less. This way you prevent muscle loss during the "cutting" phase, never go below 1000 kcal from your daily needs. Now the micro, you need to eat about 1 gram of protein per lb bodyweight, 10-15% fats, and 180 to 220 grams of carb. Get your protein from lean source like skinless chicken breast, turkey fillet, lean red meat, and eggs. Eat also a lot of complex carbs like sweet potato and grains. Drink plenty of water. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, got on the scale this morning. 211 lbs & 25.6% BF. My goal has been to get below 200. I'll focus more on BF with a goal to get under 20%. If I achieve that goal I'm assuming that I'll be under 200. |
