Subject: Songs to get you moving
I am sure this topic has been beaten to death, but hopefully this will shed new light on the topic.

With winter and ice, I have been checked into the local gym to complete my bike rides and have found it pretty boring.:-( To spice things up, I went down to the local library and checked out a copy of the Eagle's greatest hits CD. Keep in mind that it definitely is not my typical selection, but I was anxious to try and mix things up. Well, I have to say that this CD has some of the best music to get you moving and keep you going. With songs like "Long Run" and "Already Gone," I definitely found my grove. Other favorites include Hotel California and "Take it to the Limit."

If you haven't heard it in a while or ever, it's definitely worth a listen. So...

Put me on the highway, show me a sign, and take it - to the limit - one more time!

You are right, "Already Gone" is a good exercise song.  I have it on my "Run" playlist in my MP3 jukebox.

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key"

ACDC's Back in Black has always been one of my favorite motivational CDs. That is if you want to just throw a CD on and play the whole thing.

Pre-workout I either listen to
The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony"
or
ERA's "Mother"(Driven Remix)

My two favorite get up and go cardio songs right now are
Blondie's"Call Me" and Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero"

I think I'm a little on the darker side of things. A few of my all time favorite adrenaline pumpers:

Metallica's "Whiskey in the Jar" remake, as well as "Seek and Destroy"
Danzig's "Mother"
AC/DC- "Hell's Bells"

and for some odd reason "Soak up the Sun" and "Steve McQueen" by Sheryl Crow???

Ramones, White Stripes, MC5, Operation Ivy and anything else loud and punk. Ramones, espeicially are great for interval training because all of their songs clock at around two minutes.

BTW, LeCrac, if you like Joshua Tree, you will love the new U2 album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Very much like the old U2 from that era. But try to find the super delux edition because the last song "Fast Cars" is worth it.

Love the White Stripes, Ramones as well. For shorter intervals, try the Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime, a collection of songs clocking in at about a 1 1/2 minutes  apiece

I with Stake on being on the "darker" side:

Metallica - One, Ride the Lightning, Fade to Black, Master of the Puppets, Sanitarium, Breadfan...Basically all the older stuff from the Black album and before.

Van Halen - Eruption

Motley Crue - Kick Start My Heart (Even just the opening "Shifting throught he gears" part)

Stones (across all 30 years)
Johnny Lang

Stake, it's not often when you kind find old Danzig fans. "Mother" is a great song.....I listen to a few Misfits songs, but tsome of the titles *may* not be appropriate for the forum.

I'm also a big fan of "American Girl" by Tom Petty.

One of my "get me going" songs is Viva Las Vegas by ZZ TOP.....and then when I'm cooling down I like ...You Can Leave Your Hat On, by Joe Cocker.....I guess that shows I'm more than 25 YOA.

One I just found that I haven't heard in a while but love:

Crystal Method - Name of the Game

And probably one of the best songs of all time:

Blur - Song 2

I like a lot of punk/ ska to get me moving...

but every now and then I'll crank up Steppenwolf-"Magic Carpet Ride" or Eddie Rabbit- " I love the Rainy Nights". Man, both of those tunes get me moving. I can be in the worst mood, slugishly moving. As soon as I put one of those on, my legs start flying! Oh yeah, Kenny Rodger- "the Gambler" too

weird, huh?

It's Metallica for me, particullarly the Symphiny and Metallica two disc set it has a progressin from slow(warm-up) to hard and driving to slow cool down. It fits the bill nicely. My son has some Ramones I must try it.

"Peace Dogs" by the Cult is a great one, too.  I have memories of singing "meatballs" at the end as a goof with my friends...come to think of it, there are a lot of great Cult songs....

I like Magic Carpet Ride too, particularly the Fat Boy Slim remix. Another one that gets me going is Supertramp Clasics Vol. 9.

Guess I never realized how old school I am... Then again, I really like the new U2 CD, How to dismantle an atomic bomb.

Lust for Life by Iggy Pop never fails to get me in gear.  I also like Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider (the song from Vision Quest).
