Team "Pacific Ring of Fire"

Please post your goal distance (Yards) or Time (Minutes) for the month of December. Remember that for the sake of consistency, the Challenge covers December 4th-31st. (4 Complete Weeks)

Oh, and if you are doing your miles in a public pool or gym, you might want to consider the days they will be closed through the holidays. If you will be hopping into the Pacific to do your miles, of course it is never closed.

Should be a great month of swimming for all of us...

I am pretty new to BT but will be heading into my 4th Triathlon Season with my first race in March. Mostly base building now along with Marathon Training for a January race and this looks like a great way to keep me focused on swimming as well as running.

So, Accounting for holiday closures over the 4 weeks covered, My swim goal is:

36,000 Yards.

I will be doing most of my swims during the week at the pool but will be heading down to the beach (Especially when the surf picks up) to do my weekend mileage in the ocean.

I am just getting back into the pool after a long break so I am being a bit conservative on my yardage. My goal is 10,000 yards.

Looks like a great set of workouts for the month.

I believe in periodizing my training and breaks from swimming are definitely a good thing. Don't be suprised if you get back in the water and find some real speed after a bit of climatization.

Glad your on the team

Yeah, I am guessing the water temps up on NoCal are not quite what they are down here.

I head up north a couple of times a year on surf trips. (Santa Cruz, Moss Landing, Morro Bay) No matter how much Neoprene I am wearing, the Ice Cream Headache still hits me hard.

Glad you decided to join in

Oh, yeah, PNW is definitely way too cold to be doing OWS in the winter.

Hope the Kidney Stone Procedure goes as well for you.

1800 Meters it is. (Or 1,968.5 Yards)

Glad you decided to join us

LOL... I ment 18,000 I guess I "accidently" forgot a zero! 1800 is only one short swim! I guess it would have been funny to sent a e-mail on the second of Dec that said I made it!!! I'm at 100% of goal!!!

Sounds like a great plan

Looks like you had some fun at the SC Marathon.

A few of my friends did this race and it sounded like a great time. (I did Long Beach Marathon instead)

Thanks WaterDog
I enjoyed the SC race a lot. I was a volunteer on sign up day
and a participant I was really happy with my time.
The hard part will be getting in to the Pacific Ocean for a swim.

Hey, can I join y'all? I picked your team because it was the smallest. I'm from Texas (did the y'all give it away?) One of my favorite places is in Northern CA and half my family lives in WA...does that help?

Okay so here is my goal: 95 minutes.

This is not a joke. May I explain myself? I've been injured since March '06 - missed the whole '06 tri season. Can't bike, swimming was aggravating injury so I stopped for 2 months. But now I have the go ahead from my PT to swim again really, really slowly and carefully. The last month I swam it was 93 minutes so I thought that was a good goal. I know I won't get in the pool without this challenge.

So will you pleeeaase let me and measely little goal in the challenge and on your team?

If course you can join us.

Sounds like you have a solid plan and I hope your recovery (From Injury) goes well. Sitting out a whole season is really tough to do and next season is almost here.

I Friend of mine recently came back from a bad case of Stress Fractures and other assorted ailments after almost 2 years to run the Philly Marathon.

Oh... can I join?

I have a rather conservative goal time/distance-wise, as I'm really working on my form these days. But seeing as how hard it is for me to get to the pool even ONCE a week, I think any challenge that gets me out at least twice a week is a good thing.

Let's say my December goal is: 5 hours total.

If it's easier to track in distance, then I'll do: 10,000 yards.

Sounds like a great plan. I will put you down for 300 Minutes (5 Hours) for the month.

I am certain that by the end of the month, you will see significant changes in your swim economy.

Glad you decided participate.

Like to jump in here if there is still space.  I need to get my a$$ back in the pool after my TI workshop and work on my form.  My goal for December is 12,000 yards.  Thanks for letting me play...if I can.

I will add you to the sheet and send you the weekly yardage splits. (To be used for your purposes)

If you could, please go post on the Week 1 Thread, even if you have zero for the 1st week
