Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: Credit Agricole Team Thread Hi Team Credit Agricole,
Welcome to the Tour De France Bike Challenge 2008.
All hail to mighty Thor who returns to the roads of France once again to compete for the green jersey in the Tour De France.
Credit Agricole has a team this year built exclusively around that one goal with the lead out train including two Australian riders, Mark Renshaw and Simon Gerrans. Thor Hushovd is not just a strong sprinter he is also good at the race against the clock, although he does prefer the shorter distances. In the BT cycle challenge last year, the Credit Agricole team was incredibly entertaining and good at stirring up mischief with the other teams… and who can forget Allez Les Vertes Emmentals! (Go the green French Swiss Cheeses – if you want to know why ask Sappho)
On BT, your team line up for the challenge is: 1. Blagels 2. ChicagoMan65 3. crea0029 4. maverick zh 5. Nats 6. runnerg1rl7 7. sappho96 8. Sledge 9. wieczynski Now you have found the team thread, introduce yourself to your team mates below with some information which could include name, goals or info on your current bike(s). Reporting for the challenge over the next three weeks will take place in three blocks matching the Tour De France racing days. The dates are as follows: Week 1: 5th – 14th July Week 2: 15th – 21 July Week 3: 22 – 27 July Your team has a tracking spreadsheet set up and active in google spreadsheet. To open the spreadsheet click on this link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pfYL7DR_dx-ARz5cmSXH4VA&... To login to Google Docs: Username: btchallenge Password: challengeforum You can update the spreadsheet at any time to track your own, and your teams progress. I will be grabbing each teams results to date and posting a challenge update that includes all of the teams progress and any interesting tid bits from the various team threads. This update will be posted at the end of the each reporting week listed above. The winning team will be determined by the team with the highest percentage of goal achieved. No one can go over 100% of goal and if more than one team hits 100% then there is more than one winning team! To remind everyone to post their updates, and I recommend that you nominate a team leader to help with reminding everyone to report in each week. But the job of inspiring and motivating your team mate really does rest with each individual so don’t forget to give everyone some regular encouragement here in the team thread and through inspires on training logs. I will try to pop in regularly to see how your team is getting on. If there are any questions throughout the course of the challenge let me know, I will pop back in the next 24 hours with some additional information and rider profiles for your Tour De France team before the action kicks off on the roads of France.

I think I have only met one of my teammates in the past. My name is Geoff Wieczynski. I am starting my third year of TRIs. I have my first A race for the year in a couple of week--which is the Vineman Half. I have a great wife and five great kids. I'm constantly trying to cram workouts in with everything else that is going on with my life! I live in the San Francisco Bay area--more specifically in the east bay. |

I'm constantly trying to cram workouts in with everything else that is going on with my life! I live in the San Francisco Bay area--more specifically in the east bay. Could have it have been moi from the June challenge? Je m'appelle Nathalie. J'ai 42 ans, j'aime le fromage, les baguettes, le jambon et le vin rouge. My mother tongue is french (born in la Belle Province... Québec) and I live in the Toronto (Ontario, Canada) area. I'm single, no kids, no pets. My family still lives in Québec and I visit them as much as possible, especially my little 8 years old niece Laurie-Anne who is very attached to her auntie Nat (or "Matante Nat" in french). Matante Nat is very fond and proud of her too, she's a little karate kid and is in the process of getting her blue belt (third). I'm coaxing her to get into triathlons because she also loves to swim, bike and run, and often asks me questions about this wonderful sport. I'd love to coach her but since we live 600 km apart, it would be rather difficult at this point in time. This is the second year of triathlons for me, my A race is the Muskoka Ironman 70.3 in Ontario this September. My TDF goal is to ride 500 km in 11 stages and that will be the most I have ever biked over a period of three weeks. I would like to echo Geoff's thanks to Super Duper Cat for her dedicated work, over 110 dedicated peeps to manage is quite a lot of work indeed! All the best in achieving your goals and.... Allez les Vertes!!! |

Cat Bonjour Cat! I agree with you, speaking French is a lot easier than writing it. French grammar is not an easy task to master for a lot of people, even for those who have French as their mother tongue. There are way too many grammatical rules to follow. I have studied four other languages in my college years and French, Italian and German (especially) were the most difficult to master in terms of grammar. Spanish (for some obscur reason) and English were a piece of cake! Mmmmm...... chocolate..... |

The hills absolutely kicked my butt this year, but that's ok. I'm glad to be back running again (recovering from surgery in May), and I know I'll do better next year. This is my second year doing triathlons, and I have a goal of an Oly distance in September and a HIM next May. My goals for this challenge are 11 stages and 180 miles. And thanks to Cat for putting this together again! I was on the Credit Agricole team last year, and it was tons of fun!!! |

Extreme Veteran 393 Columbia, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Credit Agricole Team Thread Hi team! I'm Laura, and this is my first TdF challenge here on BT (not certainly not my first BT challenge!). I just recently moved to CO from PA (husband's in the military) and am still getting acclimated, but so far am LOVING it. Especially all the biking opportunities. I've got my first oly tri coming up on July 20, so I absolutely need the extra T.I.T.S. this month, so this challenge will be great. Aiming for 12 stages and a total of 360 minutes of riding time. And for the record, I know zero French. haha I took 2 years of Latin (useless) and 2 years of Espanol in high school, that's it. Looking forward to a great few weeks, team! I'm a recent college graduate just getting into a full time job and starting to enjoy life again. In two weeks I am racing in my first HIM so I am super pumped and starting to taper which is why I will knock off three hours of biking tomorrow and never do anything over that till after the race. I do occasionally need to get smacked around to keep on track but I will throw it back I'm excited and looking forward to tearing the other teams up! |
