Macca's book I'm here to win was good.  I would even share it with you, but I already sent it on it's merry way to someone new.

Other good ones I've enjoyed:

Iron war I thought it was great especially because of all the history in it.

The Scott Rigsby story Unthinkable was inspirational

Iron Heart was pretty good

You are an Ironman was also pretty good.

Unbreakable is outstanding.  It has some running content but that's not really the story.

I enjoyed Iron War a lot, though the scientific parts took away from what was otherwise a great read.

Born To Run as others have mentioned.

Sure, PM your address and I'll get it sent out this weekend.

(Can't wait for Chrissie's book to hit the states).

Just finished reading The Triathletes: A season in the lives of four women. by Jeff Scott Cook.

Came out in 1992 and it follows Paula Newby Fraser,Jan Ripple, Julie Wilson, and Kirsten Hansen. It is hard to find and most people have not heard of it, but it offers a great look into the women's lives. A bit like Iron War, except that Cook actually was there for most of the events so it's a bit more believable.

That was a good book, wish they had more photos though.  I tried to Google Jan Ripple to see what she's up to, I guess she is just living a quiet life.  She was my favorite woman in the book as she was a bigger woman, the others were fast because they're like 80 pounds.  I liked Paula Newby Fraser's training tactics, she would be partying up until like 3 months before the race and then get serious and build up to peak performance.  Then she would cruise again.  Many triathletes train super hard all the time and take things way too serious.  There needs to be balance.

I love reading books about running and triathlons- it gives me such a great inspiration and motivation!

Some books that haven't been mentioned yet that I enjoyed:

Can't Swim, Can't Ride, Can't Run: From Common Man to Ironman

The Grace to Race

17 Hours to Glory is an interesting book. Short stories about people who have done amazing things at Kona. Inspirational and a good history lesson, too.

I absolutely second Macca's book.

A mandatory read is Eddie Borysewicz's Bicycle Road Racing: The Complete Program for Training and Competition.

http://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-Road-Racing-Complete-Competition/dp/0941950077/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1334067030&sr=1-1

Bicycle Road Racing: The Complete Program for Training and Competition

Some of the information is dated by technical changes but the basis is absolutely critical knowledge for anyone riding a bicycle in a performance setting, especially time trials- which is what we do in triathlons.

50/50 by Dean Karnazes was very good - about his journey running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days.

I really didn't enjoy You Are An Ironman very much, I didn't think it was all that well written - fairly difficult to follow and I didn't get personally invested in the characters.

Currently reading Iron War - so far so good!

A must read is Marathon Woman by Katherine Switzer, the first woman to run Boston.

Other good ones are:
Swimming to Antarctica - lynne cox
Running through the Wall (collection of short stories about ultramarathons written by participants)
Ultramarathon Man - Karnazes
It's Not about the Bike - Lance
