I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I shed a tear more than once during that show. I had to keep pausing when my wife would walk in so she would see what I was up to. Watching Chrissie Wellington re-take first was something I'll never forget. I watching that little scene a dozen times. I think God very well might be a woman, and she happens to ride a bike.

Ah, man, I'll second that. Wasn't exactly sobbing, but definitely tugged at my tear ducts.

All I know is I thought to myself (again) "no way to a 140.6"

A thousand kudos to all you who venture there or who have.........

Didn't sob, but plently of "goosebump moments" and a few moments that tugged on the tearducts. The SEALS, the 72 year old, both disabled guys, the guy who lost his father...all finishing

Looks like you're not the only guy.

One question: So are other IM race finishes that emotional for people or is the fact it is Kona make it so dramatic?

Yeah, an IM DNF.   At least from the athlete's point of view.  All the training, all the anticipation, all the planning and then falling short....very emotional indeed.

I missed the race. Is there anyway to see it on t.v. again? Online anywhere? I would like to watch it somehow.

You can buy any of the Kona races, and others, at ironmandvd.com. I just ordered '07 and '08. It's not cheap, but it's some serious motivation.

I get tears in my eyes just thinking about attempting an IM.  Watching others achieve their goals...I don't stand a chance.  Here I come St. George!

Hulu.com had it on there awhile ago, not sure it is still there.

I get goosebumps every time I've watched the ironman events.  The finish line and the stories are just amazing.  Just watching the people fight through to the end is inspiring.  I think it was cool to see Crissie come back to the finish line later to cheer on others who were finishing.  Not many sports where you see an elite athlete come back and cheer on the "average" joes finishing up.

My wife cries every time the music starts for the last 15 minutes of Hawaii. I feel you though Mike. I have DNF'd 2 races in my entire life and an Ironman was one of them. It still eats at me 10 years later. I told my wife that at some point in my life I will be making a trip back to Lanzarote for some unfinished business...

I wish I wasn't so friggin computer stoopid, but there is an awesome video on youtube that sums the whole thing up with the song "Infinity" in the background. I will try and find it and link it here. That will motivate you BIG time!! I digress...

I caught the last 30 minutes of the show, and it was amazing!!!

My wife was in tears the first 10 minutes of the 08 Kona today. I was teary the whole thing! I remember seeing one Kona finish where an older (maybe 70ish) didn't make the time cut. That was brutal.

I think the most heartbreaking konas was when the Blazeman would be on there... Listening to him talk about himself and how he wont be walking next year... the next year he talked about how he wouldnt be there next year... I hope they keep the rolling across the finish line going... So moving

Having the emotions while crossing an IM finish!  It's the best experience!  The crowds, going through the experience, the volunteers, your family/friends/loved ones, and having your name (well, not YOUR name ) announced while crossing that finish!

That's awesome.  I can't remember too many things that have made me that emotional.  Maybe someday...

Not to diminish that, but if you don't get emotional watching this, you have no soul...

They are amazing. They were actually at the same triathlon as me back in 92 I think. It was the Connecticare Triathlon Farmington, CT. That was was my last try until this year.
