Subject: Thanks for the EncouragementHey I just wanted to thank everyone for the encouragement you guys gave me early this year... way way back in the beginning of this year one of my first posts here was asking people if you though I could handle signing up for an Oly my first season or if I would be in over my head. I had wanted to really challenge myself, but wasn't sure if I was being TOO ambitious.
I pretty much got a split input of 50/50 which in the end was encouraging enough to me because I know lots of times people underestimate what they are capable of, and I wanted something that was going to challenge me and help me continue to lose weight after having lost quite a lot.
Anyway my first Sprint was in July and it went well, and my Oly was this past weekend at the Chicago Triathlon. While my stats aren't anything to write home about I think for a beginner they are quite good. I was really only racing to finish but I did want to finish in under 4 hours and secretly I was wishing for 3:45 so coming in at 3:33 was awesome!
Still quite firmly in the Athena Territory, but healthier then I have been in ages and a lot of that is due to all the running... all be it SLOW but hey I can run! Woo! Anyway, I'm looking into what 1/2 Ironman I can aim for next summer. I might still be an Athena then too, but I'm hoping to be on the verge of not qualifying.
Thanks for the encouragement and tips. You guys truly rock.
I don't have a race report up yet, but I did sorta post one in my training log I just need to shorten it up a bit.
