I’ve frozen shoulder, which developed after a bike crash.  3mths of diligent exercise, physio and treatment by one of the most renowned ortho MD and sports medicine specialist in the country, himself a triathlete, and there has been little improvement.  It’s one of those conditions that seem to resolve / thaw by itself, with or w/o intervention, but may take months or years, they simply cannot predict!

Painful and frustrating, to say the least.  What’s your experience with frozen shoulder?  How long did it take you to heal?  What have you tried that helped or not helped?  Any suggestions?

My Mum has it right now. She's 66 and aparently it's quite common in older people (not that I'm suggestion you are...).

She was getting physio for a few months and finally went to a specialist who knew what it was straight away. She's had 1 cortizone (?) injection and more of that and physio to come over the next few months. Aparently she's 'lucky' and it should 'only' take six months or so to come right.

Bummer dude. Hang in there.

Women 40-60 are most at risk, and it may come on as a result of injury, or for no reason at all.  I'm 48.  I'm curious as to how they know it'll "only" take 6 mos.  I had 1 cortizone injection so far.  Physiotherapist tells me to do exercise on my own, and go back only when shoulder starts to thaw.  According to my PT, current research suggests physio during the frozen stage is a waste of money, but may accelerate recovery during the thawing stage.
