Subject: Mountain Bike Tire question

I know road bikes but not mountain bikes, so I figured I'd drop a question here.  I know that you have a bit of variation in road bike tires on a single rim but I don't know how much play there is on mtn bike tire rims.

A friend is switching from knobby mtn bike tires to slicks for commuter riding.  Her current tires are 26x1.95 and the new slicks that she picked up are 26x1.75.  Will they fit safely on her current rims?

Unless she has really wide rims and is barely able to mount the knobbies, she shouldn't have to worry about it b/c those tire sizes are pretty close to each other.  I've mounted 26/1.0 slicks on mtb rims that i also mount 26/2.0 knobbies.
