Subject: Braze on Band on?

Is each bike frame only compatible with either a braze on or band on front mech or can both types be used on any one frame?

I'm specifically thinking about the Trek ttx frame so to the people who own one of these it would be really helpful if you could tell me which type of front mech it has.  Thanks

Also, is it an english thread bottom bracket on the ttx?

Use this link and the magnifier to take a look for yourself -- it's a braze-on:

A band-on front will realy only work on round tubes. But a frame will only work with one or the other (as it's made for only one type). Some round-tubed frames that have a braze-on fitting could take a band-on after some frame modificatoin (something for a frame builder to do).
