Subject: Route Planner Accuracy

So, i decided to plug in a several routes in the Ajax, ontario, Canada area to find that the numbers are way off

My MS Streets and trips registers the routes at about half the distance of what the planner suggest.  I would would tend to agree with MS Streets and Trips for the accuracy as if I beleive the route planner I would be a super star.

Am I doing something wrong or are the distances just not right on the route planner.

The distances are calculated from Google data, and I've found them to be very accurate. Both my Garmin 305 and car odometer have corroborated very closely with what the route tracker lists.

Given that you're in Canada, are you sure that you're looking at the km values on the route tracker and not the mile values?

mike, thanks for teh post.  I went back to teh route planner and check a distance I know (from one consession to the next is about 2KM in my area) and it was right on.

The mistake I made was that I pressed the loop button, this actually double up all my points.  I knew I had to be doing something wrong.
