I heard that some people meet on Friday nights to practice swimming the sprint route in Canandaigua. Does anyone have more details about this?

This is the master's swim time at Kershaw Park on the north end of the lake. It actually is a course that runs parallel to the shore, and not the actual sprint course for the triathlon. The course runs along the edge of where boats are not allowed, and stretches to about a half a mile each way. You can touch the bottom the whole way, but is deep enough to get a good swim in.

When you go to walk into the park, let the person at the gate know that you're there for Masters swim. Friday nights are usually pretty popular, and you will see others there as well. Most people are more than willing to help direct you as to how far to go before turning around at the end.

Also, if the swim course for the sprint is as it always is, you can touch the bottom for the vast majority of it, and is very beginner friendly as swims go for triathlons.

You can come down early morning and swim out of the small boat launch at the east end of park.  Across from the gas station.  There is often a  few Tri'er there.  I try to hit it twice a week around 6:30am.  I'll be the one out there swimming with the dog.  I usually try to post when I'll be down there or if you want to go early give me a inspire and we'll make it happen.

PS not tomorrow.
