Subject: Flat(ish) bike course near Springfield Mo

Hey Everyone,

My A race this year is the Chicago Tri on 8/30.  I live in Illinois, but I am spending most of the remainder of my training time in Springfield, Mo with my girlfriend. 

I don't know the area very well and I'm looking for some good bike courses around 20k and 40k that are mostly flat.  So far I've tried some loops around Wilson Creek Battlefield, but so far everything I've done is EXTREMELY hilly.  I'd really like to find a course that is somewhat close and reasonably flat.  Any advice?

Good luck with finding anything flat around here!!  As far as I know there isn't a one mile stretch of flat road anywhere in the whole county!!  I live north of springfield and everything I have ridden so far has been hilly.  It seems that west of springfield it is a little less hilly, but not flat.  You may be able to find something out that way.

Here's a pretty good out and back route.  Starts at Price Cutter in Republic with the turn-around at a gas station (Baumer's?...in Halltown) where you can refuel, pee, etc.  There are a couple of hills, but it doesn't get much better.  Also, if you want to find a group ride check out http://springbike.org/
