![]() Swim
Comments: Swim was great! The water temperature was perfect with the wetsuit. There was some vegitation floating around, but wasn't really an issue or a problem. Once I started, I was able to settle into bi-lateral breathing. Navigation was average...could have been better. I wish my pace was a little better, but I was happy with the swim. What would you do differently?: Go faster =) ![]() Transition 1
Comments: After the swim, run to transition area was up a sandy path, down a portion of a field, and into the transition area. From there, my bike was fairly far from the entrance, but close to the bike exit. I got out of the water and it took about :30 to catch my breath as I jogged into the transition area. I was slower than usual getting my socks on. My sunglasses fell on the ground (from out of my helmet). Once equiped, the run was down the sandy path to the road. ![]() Bike
Comments: First 3 miles of the bike was on a very rough road. After that, the road was nice and smooth. Used aerobottle (had 20 oz of GU2O and about 8 oz of water during bike). Had 1/2 clif shot part way on bike and finished the other 1/2 at about mile 15. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Had a small issue racking bike. Two wetsuits were draped over the bar and I had to move them out of the way to rack my bike. Switch from bike shoes to sneakers went well. I learned from the Hilton Head race to not wait to go to the bathroom! I managed to jump off into some bushes after dropping off bike before heading out on the run. ![]() Run
Comments: It took me a little bit to get settled in on the run. I felt stronger on the second half of the run. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Streched a bit, Drank water and gatorade and grabbed a bite to eat. Event comments: I think this was a pretty good race! It was the first year it was run and surprisingly didn't have many hangups. The field the transition area was in was pretty rough with roots sticking out. They tried to make it a little easier on everyone by covering the walkways with hay, but that only hid the roots. There were a lot of volunteers and the finish line activities were pretty good (had music, announcers, a medal). I would do this race again! Last updated: 2005-05-16 12:00 AM
