Subject: Garmin Forerunner 305 issue
I have a Garmin Forerunner 305.  I seem to have some discrepancy in my data when I load a run into my log.
Today I ran 10 miles in 1:34:40. My forerunner had my average HR as 138. 

When I uploaded my data the mileage and time were correct. However, my average pace was 9:42 (should have been 9:28) and my average HR was 116. 

I went to GarminConnect and uploaded the data and saw what I expected to see 9:28 with the 138 average HR.

Any ideas on what happened?

The pace is calculated from the time and distance. On the data entry screen, the pace is displayed in minutes, so you weren't seeing 9 minutes, 42 seconds, you were seeing 9.42 minutes. That then converts to 9 minutes and 28 seconds on your blog page.

The heart rate issue seems to stem from the fact that your first lap of 15 minutes didn't record an average heart rate on the device but subsequent laps did have one recorded. Our software is treating that that first lap as a 0 value which is bringing the average down. I can make a change to just ignore any laps that don't have that value if others do.

Ah! We were thinking that maybe it was 9.42 instead of 9:42, but then the HR error made us think that something else was going on. I forgot that I put the wrong transmitter on ( I put the one for my Edge on when I started), and then switched after we finished our warmup lap with the dogs! So I did not have a HR recorded for the first 1.7 miles.  Now it all makes sense.
