Total Time = 2h 46m 31s
Overall Rank = 44/84
Age Group = 24-29
Age Group Rank = 3/5
Pre-race routine:

same as always:
up 3hrs before start time; eat 1/2 banana, 1/2 bagel, 1/2 ClifBar, cup of coffee; in tran area 1hr before start; short run, stretch, wetsuit on, warm-up in water; RACE
Swim
  • 28m 19s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

Traded speed for drafting and energy conservation. Bad trade because I followed someone slower than me.
What would you do differently?:

Find someone faster to draft
Transition 1
  • 02m 48s
Comments:

loooong run to T1 from swim exit
Bike
  • 1h 15m 1s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 19.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Last hill killed my average speed- I hit the climb at 20.1mph average and eneded the climb at 19.8, ack! Hammered the last 1.5 miles into T2 to get it back to 20, but fell short by 0.11
What would you do differently?:

Save some energy for the set of tough climbs in the last 5K
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

T2 was a mess because I forgot to get my feet out before the dismount line
Run
  • 58m 44s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Took it very easy on the front 3.1mi (37:12) to see how my calf was feeling. I hit the turnaround with lots of juice and NO pain in my leg... so I dropped the hammer and turned a 21:32 on the back 3.1mi.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

ice cream, ice cream, ice cream

What limited your ability to perform faster:

this race was slow by design, I was testing my leg, and it did well.
